Scholarship & Titleholder Development Award Policy

The Miss Arkansas Delta Scholarship Foundation is committed to supporting the education, growth, confidence, and continued development of our State Titleholders. Monetary awards are designated as either Educational Scholarships or Titleholder Development Awards based on the recipient’s division.

Educational Scholarships

The Teen Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss Arkansas Delta State Titleholders will each receive a $1,000 Educational Scholarship.

Educational Scholarship funds are reserved for education-related expenses and may be used for:

• Tuition at an accredited college or university
• Community college or vocational/technical school tuition
• Trade or certification programs
• Professional development or continuing education required to maintain or advance a professional license or certification
• Required course fees
• Required textbooks, supplies, or educational materials
• Other qualifying educational expenses approved by the Foundation

Scholarship funds will not be issued as unrestricted cash. When possible, payment will be made directly to the educational institution or approved provider upon submission of appropriate documentation.

Educational Scholarship funds may not be used for pageant entry fees, pageant coaching, clothing, travel, beauty services, or other personal or pageant-related expenses.

Titleholder Development Awards

State Titleholders in designated younger and adult divisions may receive a Titleholder Development Award.

Unlike the Educational Scholarships awarded in the Teen Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss divisions, these awards are intended to assist titleholders with opportunities that promote confidence, communication, leadership, personal development, and continued growth.

Approved uses may include:

• Pageant coaching
• Interview coaching
• Public-speaking or communication training
• Modeling, walking, or stage-presentation instruction
• Talent lessons or training
• Leadership or personal-development programs
• Educational or enrichment classes, camps, and workshops
• Continuing education and professional-development programs
• Entry fees for approved pageants or competitions
• Approved wardrobe or competition-related expenses
• Other development expenses approved in advance by the Foundation

Titleholder Development Awards are not educational scholarships and should not be represented as such.

Requesting Funds

Recipients must submit a request for payment or reimbursement along with an invoice, receipt, registration confirmation, or other documentation showing the purpose and amount of the expense.

All expenses are subject to approval by the Miss Arkansas Delta Scholarship Foundation before funds are released.

The Foundation reserves the right to deny expenses that do not reasonably further the purpose of the award or are inconsistent with the Foundation’s mission.

Payment of Awards

Whenever practical, the Foundation will make payment directly to the school, program, coach, instructor, pageant organization, or other approved provider.

Reimbursement may be permitted when an approved expense has already been paid by the titleholder or her parent/legal guardian and acceptable documentation is provided.

Awards have no cash value and will not be issued as unrestricted cash payments.

Award Expiration

Educational Scholarships: Scholarship funds must be used within three (3) years of the award date and may be used for approved education or continuing education expenses.

Titleholder Development Awards: Development Award funds must be used within one (1) year of the award date for approved development expenses.

Any unused funds remaining after the applicable redemption period will remain with the Miss Arkansas Delta Scholarship Foundation.

Foundation Approval

All scholarship and development award requests are subject to final approval by the Miss Arkansas Delta Scholarship Foundation. Approval of an expense in one instance does not guarantee approval of the same or similar expense in the future.

The Foundation may amend this policy when necessary to maintain compliance with applicable laws, tax requirements, and the charitable purposes of the organization.
